Privacy Policy

The short version

Gather.ink exists to match you into a small writing or reading group. To do that, we ask for the minimum we need: an email address, your timezone, what you're working on, and a few preferences. We use that information only to form your group and email you a kickoff note. We don't sell it, we don't show ads, and nothing on this site is public.

What we collect

• Your email address.
• Your timezone and the times of week you're available.
• Whether you're looking for a writing or reading group, the medium, genres, frequency, and group size you'd prefer.
• For writing groups: your experience level and a short note about what you're working on.
• Standard request metadata (IP address, briefly, for rate limiting and abuse prevention).

How we use it

• To match you into a compatible group.
• To email your group a one-time kickoff note with shared availability and a video meeting link.
• To send you transactional emails related to your group (and nothing else).

Who sees your information

Only the other members of your matched group see your email address and your "what you're working on" note — via the kickoff email. Nothing is published to the open web. Site operators can see submissions for support and abuse purposes.

Where it lives

Submissions are stored in our managed backend (hosted on Supabase via Lovable Cloud). Email delivery runs through our transactional email pipeline. Group video meetings happen on Jitsi Meet, a third-party service we don't operate; their privacy policy applies once you join a meeting.

Tips

Tips are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe's privacy policy governs that transaction.

Cookies and analytics

We don't run third-party analytics or advertising trackers. The site uses only the cookies strictly necessary to function. We record anonymous pageview data (the path you visited and a random tab-scoped session id) so we can understand which pages are useful; this contains no personal information and is never shared.

Your choices

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, which suppresses future emails to that address. To request deletion of your submission, email damonk10 [at] gmail [dot] com from the address you submitted with.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of gather.ink after a change means you accept the updated policy.
